Data Security Sales Engineer
The IT Security Data Security Sales Engineer will be supporting the global sales team to deliver the most disruptive cybersecurity solutions to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:
Pre-Sales Technical Support:
- Act as the primary technical liaison between the sales team and prospective clients, providing expert guidance on data security solutions and addressing technical queries.
- Deliver engaging and informative product demonstrations and presentations to showcase the value and capabilities of our data security solutions.
Solution Design and Customization:
- Collaborate with clients to understand their specific data security needs and challenges, and tailor solutions to meet those requirements.
- Develop detailed technical proposals and solution architectures that align with client objectives and compliance standards.
Product Knowledge and Expertise:
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of our data security products and services, staying current with industry trends, emerging threats, and technological advancements.
- Provide feedback to the product development team based on client interactions and industry developments to help shape future product enhancements.
Proof of Concept and Pilot Projects:
- Lead and manage proof-of-concept (POC) and pilot projects to demonstrate the effectiveness and fit of our solutions in real-world scenarios.
- Coordinate with clients to set up and execute POCs, including configuring environments, troubleshooting issues, and collecting feedback.
Technical Documentation and Reporting:
- Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including solution specifications, deployment guides, and client-facing materials.
- Prepare and present technical reports and summaries to both internal stakeholders and clients, outlining project progress, results, and next steps.
Collaboration and Training:
- Work closely with the sales, marketing, and customer success teams to ensure alignment and effective communication of technical aspects and client requirements.
- Conduct training sessions and workshops for clients and internal teams on data security best practices, product usage, and implementation techniques.
Client Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key client stakeholders, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and addressing any ongoing technical concerns or requirements.
- Assist with post-sales support, including troubleshooting complex issues and providing expert advice on product optimization.
Market and Competitor Analysis:
- Stay informed about competitive products and market dynamics to effectively position our solutions and differentiate them from competitors.
- Provide insights and recommendations based on market analysis to support strategic sales initiatives and product positioning.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Technical Knowledge & Skills Required
- Proficiency in security technologies, including firewalls, Enterprise DLP such as GTB DLP, Triton or Symantec DLP, Data Security solutions, and a general networking background
- Proficiency in operating systems including Windows Servers, Windows 7, 8 & 10, Mac OS, RHES and Ubuntu Linux
- Proficiency in defending and / or preventing attacks utilizing security technologies, including web application firewalls, anti-DDoS technologies, advanced Enterprise DLP / Data Security tools, advanced anti-malware solutions, and network forensics and visibility solutions
- Information Systems architecture and security control design and development experience
- Strong empathy for customers
- Enthusiastic and creative team player with the ability to inspire others
- Ability to travel up to 75% of a sales cycle
Preferred
- Experience with deploying and using Enterprise Data Loss Prevention solutions such as the GTB Technologies Data Protection that Workstm platform ( gttb.com )
- Experience deploying and managing Splunk and / ArcSight
- Experience deploying and administering Windows, Mac, *NIX servers and desktops
Educational & Professional Credentials
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience
- 5 – 8 years of security sales engineering experience in the Information Security industry
- Previous sales experience is strongly preferred
- Ability to deal with changing priorities and multi-task several projects
- Maintain at least one Industry Standard Security certification, such as: CISSP, CISM, etc…
- Excellent presentation and communication skills.
- Excellent technical and business writing skills.
Required Experience and Skills
- Existing hands-on Technical Support or Systems Engineer background with networking and UNIX
- 2+ years experience in customer and account management experience
- Self-starter with the ability to multi-task in a high-pressure, fast-paced, fast-growth environment
- Be intuitive and inventive by providing solutions and workarounds for customers
- Team player that shares technical information freely and willingly
- Ability to scale from the whiteboard to working with security architects to influencing CISOs
- Ability to manage influence through persuasion, negotiation, and consensus building
- Ideally combined background of both post-sales and pre-sales experience
- Strong empathy for customers AND passion for revenue and growth
- Deep understanding of value drivers in recurring revenue business models
- Analytical and process-oriented mindset
- Enthusiastic and creative team player with the ability to inspire others
- Relevant Bachelor’s degree; preference for computer science or related degrees
Required Technical Experience:
- Excellent knowledge and prior experience with network security technologies including Proxies, NG Firewalls, SSL/IPSec, VPNs, SSO, DLP, and Encryption gateways
- Demonstrable experience with systems installation, configuration and administration UNIX/Linux and Windows-based systems (prior Active Directory/LDAP experience desirable)
- Expert in troubleshooting various scenarios and systems by using knowledge of common tools (tcpdump) and protocols (TCP/IP, NTP, DNS, DHCP)
